HAVE YOU BEEN SCAMMED, GRIEFED OR HAVE YOU WITNESSED ANY RULE-BREAKING WITHIN ECOCITYCRAFT? HERE'S A FOUR-STEP QUICK GUIDELINE NOT SUPPORTED BY MODERATORS THAT YOU SHOULD FOLLOW: INTRODUCING: S.K.I.D.! Builders, ever wondered what you should do when and if you've been griefed or scammed? Uncle Matberry has a quick solution for you to SKID your way to a refund, or otherwise to SKID your way through the icy plains of confusion to justice! SKID's a general rule we should all follow whenever we see someone breaking any rules. It's an acronym for the actions you should take so you can have the right action taken against the player who's harmed yourself or the Ecocitycraftian community. Here's the acronym: S - SCREENSHOTK - KEEP CALMI - INFORM YOURSELFD - DENOUNCE What do I mean? Well, here it is: SCREENSHOTYou can't post a valid complaint without one. Hit F2 as many times as you need so that your information contains detail on what has happened, when it's happened, and possibly why it's happened. You should ALWAYS take a screenshot of ANY trade or transaction you complete anyway, so start getting into the habit of doing so and you can soon forget to worry about this step!KEEP CALMIn 100% of any rule-breaking you will encounter, it's important you don't take any action that can get a report filed against YOU. Don't cuss, don't insult, don't grief, etc. Keep calm. Even if you've been griefed, don't take it out on others. Most importantly, DON'T destroy the crime scene of a grief!INFORM YOURSELFIf you file a report, it's easy to see how much you know about what you're doing. In any circumstances where a complaint or grief report must be filed, you should check the username on the forums and see if he has ever done anything against the rules before. This can help moderators go through your complaint quicker. Not only should you search the username, if you know who's done it, but if you've been griefed, you may also like to ask the moderators for advice, like whether you've got an acceptable argument and condition that can be filed as a complaint. If the username broke a rule openly (e.g. posted an IP address on the global chat), you should firstly do "/seen (username)" to see if he's been banned before filing a complaint. If he has been banned, it is likely the moderators will know the issue already, and you don't need to file a report. Include any extra information you know that is relevant to his history on your report (I don't mean colour of his eyebrows and stuff, I mean has he been banned/warned/what did he say?/did anyone else get harmed?) If you do need to post a grief report, check that one hasn't been posted first for the same grief before.DENOUNCEThe fun part. Get on the forums and start typing out your complaint. If you've been intimidated and don't want to file a complaint on the forums because you think there could be repercussions, start a conversation with a moderator on the forums. You should always use the appropriate format (check a forum sticky before you post on any forum, or otherwise check how the other complaints are like). Remember, don't falsely denounce, as it can get you banned or fined, and don't suggest an appropriate action. The moderators know what to do, all they need to know is what's happened. The rest is all their decision. If you need help with uploading screenshots, please click here for an easy guide on how to do that! Why have I posted this thread? Town Mayors, feel free to hyperlink to this thread in any of your town suggestions, or use my acronym in your town rules! I've only done this because I was bored and needed something to do, and I've already incorporated this guideline into the rules of Dustcity. We should all read SKID or a similar acronym sometime. No moderators have declared or implied that they support the SKID criteria yet, so don't take this as an official guideline. And no, this is a guideline, and I can't guarantee it will always help you, but in 80% of all cases it's worth using the SKID criteria to SKID your way to justice. If the rule was being broken openly and was continuously being broken, like the common IP address spammer at the spawn, rather than use the SKID criteria, I suggest you get a moderator to teleport to you. It saves time and means you don't have to go through the time-spending of SKIDding. If the short, quick boat ride's available through the ice of rule-breaking, why SKID along the ice? Good luck, and /pm Uncle Matberry if you need any help with filing a report, or just mail me, whichever you find the most convenient.
I am pretty sure that builders can file grief reports as long as they are a resident in the town that has been griefed.
Very nice guide to help not just newcomers, but everyone that doesn't know how to file a complaint properly. Just add an image upload site to the 'Denounce' section like http://www.imgur.com and it will be just perfect, as a lot of people seem to have problem with that step.
1. Any town resident, regardless of personal rank, can post a grief report. If the damage is severe, a rollback will only be done if the Mayor of the town was the one to file a report. 2. This is a good guide to uploading screenshots: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/post-a-minecraft-screenshot-in-five-easy-steps.24529/
S: I have too many pictures of every trade I made that was over 1k. K: Must. Not. Rage. I: Too much infomation. I know everything, from their rank to the color of their eyebrows. D: MUHAHAHA R: Warning only? JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED Lol, just kidding. This is a really good post, even though you're not my uncle this is a great post to read, this should be pinned up in the grief reports and complaints/ban appeals. Really helpful for new people. +99
I'm a fast typer, and I had some ideas in my mind whilst I auto-fished/dealt properties. But of solid work, yeah, 30 to 45 mins.
