Students in US History 1 are studying the American Revolution and its role in creating the idea of “democracy” in the United States. On Feb. 25, we took a field trip to the Old South Meeting House and the Old State House.
Our scholars saw the site of the Boston Massacre, sat in the colonial council chambers to learn about the history of voting and citizenship in Massachusetts, and participated in a role-playing game to decide: how should we respond to Britain’s unfair laws? And, what are the roles and responsibilities of citizens to make their voices heard?

Special thanks to the EHS Alumni from the Class of 2013 who came in last week to share their experiences as EHS students and discuss their college experience and current work experience. Our students had lots of questions for these students who were sitting in their seats a little over a decado ago! Special thanks to Andy Joseph '13 who is our Private Industry Council Career Specialist who organized the event!

CIty Year runs an Afterschool program for our 9th and 10th graders who want extra support with homework. The program started October 21st and will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Students in grades 9-12 will use continue to use the Yondr system again this year: phones, earpods, smartwatches must be placed in student's individual Yondr pouch. Students will receive their Yondr pouch on their first day of school and will be required to use it for the entire school day. IPADs and Macbooks are not allowed, as students use their features to continue to access their phones and messages, and will also be collected at the door for return at the end of the day for any students who bring them in.
Students who break, damage, or lose their Yondr pouch will be required to pay a $30 replacement fee to get a new Yondr. Until they have their new Yondr, they must place their phone in an envelope to be locked in the main office until the end of the day until they have paid the replacement fee and a new Yondr has arrived. Returning students are familiar with this process.
As was the case last year, if you need to reach your student for any reason during the school day please call 617-635-8979 and we will ensure that you are able to speak with your student.
