The Historic Jail, built in 1882 is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was one of the few such facilities to house both the jail and the jailer’s residence under one roof. Many unique displays now showcase the history of the jail as well as other interesting aspects of Noble County history. Nestled in an area of beautiful street lights, businesses, and stores, the structure is located right on “The Square” in historic downtown Caldwell. It is just two blocks from the Ball-Caldwell House, which dates back to 1832, and is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
