A Jewish Conversation About Economic Justice
When:
Tuesday, December 13, 2016 7:00-9:00 PM

Where:
Fiedler Hillel at Northwestern University
629 Foster Street, Evanston, IL

About:
In the beginning of 2016, a group of Jews of diverse ages and perspectives came together because we shared a set of concerns about widening economic disparities – including stubbornly high poverty rates, increased economic insecurity within the middle class, and greater concentration of income and wealth among the most affluent.   These disparities have had adverse consequences for too many individuals and families in our communities, our state, and the nation. As Jews we agreed we have a responsibility to act when we see injustice.  We think the Jewish community in metropolitan Chicago can make a difference if we use our resources effectively, but the overheated political environment has made starting a constructive conversation extremely challenging.  We have committed ourselves to creating opportunities for open and non-judgmental conversations that will allow each of us to consider what the trend of growing economic inequality means to each of us, our families, and our communities. You are invited to join the conversation.
