Thank you for volunteering your time to judge at our upcoming tournament! Regardless of your previous experience, you have valuable feedback to offer to our students.  

All necessary training to judge either speech or debate is provided. Different training is required for debate than is required for speech. Your time commitment will be approximately 3 hours if you choose to judge one round. If you chose to judge more than one round, each additional round will take approximately 2 hours.  

Hospitality service (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) will be provided for all judges.

Once again, we are grateful for your willingness to serve at this important event in the lives of our students.

Speech:
Students will present a variety of speeches and compete in several different genres. Genres fall into 3 main categories: Public Address, Limited Preparation, and Interpretive. There is normally more than one judge in a room. Judges provide feedback for what was done well and what can be improved while ranking the students in the room. Team Policy Debate:
One judge in the room decides on a win between 2 teams. The Affirmative team wants to change the current policy and gives their plan, while the Negative team wants keep the current policy.  The judge will hear arguments from both sides and make a decision for the winner.  The single judge also gives 10 minutes of oral feedback at the end of the round.  More information and ballots can be found at http://www.ccadebate.org/debate/
