Mr. Pike - piked@lisd.net

Calculator Team - 3rd in STATE 2019

Meets:

We will have Invitational A in January, Invitational B in February and we will have online virtual meets throughout the year.

There will be a minimum of 6 meets and I require you to take at least 5 of those tests in order to qualify for the district team.

I can only take 4 students in each area to district. I really wish I could take all of you, but those are the rules set forth by UIL. So, if you want to be in the top 4 for your event(s), you have to work hard from the beginning and come practice in my room.

To determine the top 4, I will take 70% of the average of Invite A and Invite B. If you take all four virtual challenge tests, I will take 30% of your top three scores. Sometimes, we just have an off day, so this is your chance to not have one test ruin your average. The highest four sums will make the district/region/state team. If the scores are ±7 points off, I will take the person whose scores have been steadily increasing.

Scholarship opportunities!

You must compete at the State Academic competition in order to be eligible to apply for the TILF scholarships. Check them out here: https://www.tilfoundation.org/scholarships/list/

If you look through the past recipients, at least one student a year from LISD is a recipient. All LISD schools have had students selected as a TILF recipient.

Our most recent recipient - Annette Nguyen (2020) was awarded the Welch Foundation Scholarship for $14,000!!!!!
