Taming Overgrown Bush October 2021

Our property in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia is usually hot, dry and dusty in Spring and Summer but heavy rains in Winter and Spring 2020 promoted extensive growth of grasses, weeds and saplings - not desirable in a bushfire prone zone

The terrain on two sides of the house is steep, rough and rocky (sandstone and quartz) and cannot be accessed safely by tractors or slashers. The photographs are before and after brushcutting with a 4 stroke Honda UMK 435U using a metal blade for the really tough stuff and 3 mm trimmer line for the rest. Mowers were used for any accessible spots around the edges

The small trees remaining are Geebungs (Persoonia) and those recently planted are Allocasuarinas, the food source of Glossy Black Cockatoos
