SWYSA is organising a programme of coaching over winter 2023/4 for sailors aged 10-18 who have started racing, or are more experienced and improving their racing skills.
Coaching will take place across different south west clubs - program below:-
1st October 2023 Saltash (SUNDAY)
5th November 2023 Sidmouth (SUNDAY)
9th December 2023 Royal Torbay Yacht Club (SATURDAY)
6th January 2024 Starcross (SATURDAY)
20th January 2024 Starcross (SATURDAY)
3rd Feb 2024 Starcross (SATURDAY)
24th February 2024 Paignton Sailing Club (SATURDAY)
9th March 2024 Royal Torbay Yacht Club (SATURDAY)
23rd March 2024 Paignton Sailing Club (SATURDAY)
In addition there will be three optional weekends for the Tera Squad:-
18/19 November - (2-day training, joint with Tera Southern Squad at Bowmoor).
27/28 January - (2-day training, joint with Tera Southern Squad at Weymouth - WPNSA)
6/7 April - (Battle of the Regions training & racing national event at Draycote)
Coaching will be provided by male and female RYA accredited coaches, who are experienced and successful racing sailors in their own right.
Coaching will be across three fleets: ILCA, Topper and Tera. The Tera fleet will incorporate the RS Tera Class Regional Training Group, and will include an additional (optional) two weekends with larger fleets, joint with the southern Regional Training Group.
We aim that this will be low-cost. There will also be bursary places available, and possibly help with boat transport.
