“Memory is the place where our vanished days secretly gather. Memory rescues experience from total disappearance.” John O’Donohue, Eternal Echoes
As we journey onwards in life, more and more spaces within us fill with absence. This workshop is an opportunity to reflect on how death shows up in our lives and how our friends among the dead clothed us in weave after weave of blessing.
We will sit and make string, play with natural dye pots and weave together a communal casket/coffin of memories and experiences.
Please bring to the workshop a selection of leaves and flowers that are special to you to create your own eco-dye silk wrap (mini shroud).
Also bring along fabrics, even small pieces that hold meaning and memories for you to ply into string to decorate our communal ‘stick casket’ which is collecting memories from across the South West. This casket will become centre stage in a Remembrance ceremony in Capel as part of the Capel Makers Trail.
Booking is essential. Places are limited to 15 participants only and are expected to fill quickly.
