Participants in the Grand Depart are asked to:
1) complete 10-hours of trail work on the Rockstar route or donate to the Virginia Endurance Series

4) Complete a Letter of Intent (below)

Crucial Note: None of the above is required. Zero. Just like the Appalachian Trail, Colorado Trail, Arizona Trail or Great Divide route - all RockStar routes are on public land and can be travelled by anyone at any time for free! The Grand Depart is simply an idea, a fun way to get people stoked about these incredible routes. The Grand Depart inspires folks to enjoy the RockStar routes, maybe test themselves, and it stimulates massive annual trail clearing efforts that all trail users benefit from.

The moto or dual sport route is generally the Gravel route but rider must deviate from the Gravel route to 1) avoid all areas where motos are prohibited, and 2) avoid technical areas that are beyond a conservative estimate of your moto ability. Be safe! Excellent, beautiful route alternatives exist and should be self-crafted.

The RockStar Trail route, like the Appalachian Trail, is free to travel on any time. The many trails that link together to create the 270 mile RockStar Trail route are all public lands, all are open year-round and collectively they require many hundreds of hours to maintain and improve each year. RockStar participants are kindly asked to contribute to the RockStar Trail by either: A) voluntarily completing 10-hours of trail work on the RockStar Trail route or B) voluntarily making a donation to the Virginia Endurance Series (suggested donation = $100, donate via Venmo @virginiaenduranceseriesor PayPal robertissem@gmail.com). Important Note: contributing to the RockStar Trail is *not* required. Anyone can ride a RockStar route at any time for FREE! *

I will complete 10-hours of trail work on the RockStar route before April 15, 2023.

I will donate to the Virginia Endurance Series.
