ASCEND stands for “Advancing Student-Centered Education with Networking & Diversity” – this is a student led organization for undergraduates interested in the teaching profession. Students will be involved in various lectures led by experts in the field of education, activities such as fundraising events, College of Education Career Fair, service learning projects, outdoor activities with faculty and/or advisors, talent show, etc. Your membership in this club will not only help to better prepare you for career prospects, but will also familiarize you with the ongoing research and current trends in education.
This ASCEND club is comprised of an executive branch led by a president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary who are elected by club members. The dues are $15 per academic year. Members must be undergraduates that are interested in the teaching profession and are on a teacher licensure track with a GPA of at least 2.5.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to come by the College of Education’s Student Success in T.J. Farr, Room # 202 and speak with Dr. Vani Gaddam, the ASCEND club sponsor. She will be more than happy to discuss any of the details and/or questions that you might have.
If interested in applying for membership, please fill out this online form and bring the required $15 membership dues to Dr. Vani Gaddam.
