LaToya Lain: Soprano Performs in Amarillo This Thursday

Thanks so much to Mary Jane Johnson of Amarillo Opera for stopping by High Plains Morning today to share some info about their upcoming event. As you know, February is Black History Month, and Amarillo has been celebrating. The festivities continue with a fabulous program this Thursday night when the Amarillo Opera team s up with the Amarillo Museum of Art for a free exhibition viewing and vocal performance by North Carolina soprano LaToya Lain. It’ll be held at Amarillo College. She will feature a recital titled “Sound for the Soul” and features  Narrative of a Slave Woman. This free concert is open to the public.

Before the recital, there’s a reception at 6:30pm CT where you can check out the amazing exhibits by African-American artists currently on display: Achievement in Art: The Harmon and Harriet Collection of African American Art: Works on Paper; and Vanessa German: In A Fit of Glory. The vocal performance starts at 7:30p CT and will be held in the Concert Hall Theater.  Check out LaToya Lain online, and spread the word. For more info, check out the listing on Facebook or call (806) 371-5050.

Also, mark your calendars for the Three Redneck Tenors, coming to Amarillo on April 4th. They’ll play the Amarillo Country Club at 6:30pm CT. These three are a hilarious and extremely talented trio, with a bit of Texan spirit, so get ready for a very entertaining show. A specialty dinner will be served, for a unique dinner theater experience.  (Dinner and performance included in ticket price.) For more info and to get tickets, call 806.372.7464. Oh, and if you missed them on Jimmy Fallon, check it out!
