Monday at noon on "The Source" — The Texas legislature's order to redesign the state's foster care system has led to a new model for managing cases.
The "community-based care" approach allows for public private partnerships, contracting local organizations to find living arrangements, provide services and monitor the status of children who were removed from their home because of abuse or neglect.
This month, the Family Tapestry division of The Children's Shelter opened a first-of-its-kind placement center and will begin the first phase of assuming responsibilities from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
