"Treasure Trove" music video by Katy Tessman
Filming at @FirstAvenue7StEntry 's iconic Turf Club in St. Paul during my tour homecoming show was truly a dream come true! Greg Paape from @featurefoundationsvideography did an outstanding job capturing the essence of the performance and the love I have for my bandmates (@kelleylima @nikkilemire ) including my son who’s my lead guitar player. The use of vibrant color and striking black-and-white footage beautifully reflects the song’s core message—that life’s greatest treasures are found in love and human connection, not material wealth. The way Greg played with film speed captured the raw passion of the performance invites viewers to slow down and reflect. It’s more than just a performance video—it’s a visual reminder to pause and appreciate the true riches we often overlook in our everyday lives. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out and how beautifully it complements the meaning behind the song.
Katy Tessman soars to new heights with her eagerly awaited second album, “Fly,” marking her return to songwriting and performing after a twenty-year hiatus. The album weaves a tapestry of uplifting melodies and heartfelt ballads, resonating with themes of self-discovery and resilience. “Fly” was produced by Michael Koppelman, who has a rich history as an engineer, producer and writer at Paisley Park, working for Prince. The players on this album are from Katy’s band, Katy Tessman and the Turnbuckles, featuring Katy’s son Louis “Sweet Lou” Tessman Stanoch, bandmate from the late 90s Tom Leier on bass, and reunited high school classmate Kelley Lima on drums. Musical collaborations led to stellar performances by Nikki Lemire on harp and backing vocals, Jillian Rae on strings, Justin Jacobson on pedal steel, and Michael Koppelman on piano, guitar, and backing vocals. "Vines," the debut single from the album "Fly," is a vulnerable song about love showcasing Katy Tessman’s captivating voice. The arrangement is embellished by the skillful contributions of Jillian Rae on violin, viola, and cello and Nikki Lemire on harp and backing vocals.
