PURPOSE: MIT-AIT is a convention planned specifically for new members to BBYO. Programming during the weekend will revolve around the basics of BBYO: programming, history, and how chapters function. Teens will experience their first BBYO Shabbat which will be led by Rachel Wolman, a song leader from Richmond, who will be our guest for the weekend. A dance will be held on Saturday night with our favorite DJ, Eric Kelly. The participants will have the opportunity to meet other Jewish teens from North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and southern Georgia, learn all about BBYO and have a great time.

Q&A

My teen is shy or not 100% sure about going to a convention.

No need to worry! MIT/AIT Convention is specifically for new members to BBYO, so everyone will be coming together for the first time. There are 20 upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) who will be helping to create a fun, engaging and meaningful convention experience for your teen. Their job is to make the participants feel welcomed and to make sure they have an amazing time. They are there for your teen before, during and after the convention.

How much does convention cost?

The convention cost is $215 and we offer need based scholarships. Our goal is to make BBYO accessible to all teens who want to participate. This convention fee covers all food, lodging and supplies for the convention.

What about transportation?

Transportation plans will be made for each city in Eastern Region. Each convention attendee and their parent/guardian will receive a transportation email the week prior to convention which will include cost and timing of transportation.

I have more questions, who should I contact?

If you have any questions about MIT/AIT Convention you should contact Eastern Region staff who would be happy to answer any of your questions!
