When discount deals come along, we may also get loyalty points and not just a 10% discount to start us off.
The re-vived–com website has several discounts available so I ordered several times to build up my loyalty points to get £5 off the next order, so I saved an initial £3 and an extra £15 with the 3 orders after this first order. The reduced prices were quite amazing. I saved over £1200 on the recommended prices and my orders total was £140.
Hopefully, this win-win situation gets sorted out in the next few weeks.

When I’m not a Prime Video subscriber or getting a free trial, I check my emails for groceries stores such as Morrisons. Large online orders save on the delivery charges if ordering half the items instead. Even so, there are times we stock up and times we don’t. So I chose the £5 off voucher code for a delayed delivery this Sunday. I ordered over £5 and got the £5 off. I pay the delivery charge of £1.50. I save on the multi-buy items so I paid £12 less that way and save about £16.

Please note that those on Government benefits get some minimum allowance according to the Law and yet this includes the cost of paying the TV Licence Tax. So if the tax didn’t exist then these claimants would be paid £3 a week less. The large amount of about £14 a month for the BBC doesn’t make sense to most UK citizens. When not seeing TV adverts on the BBC we aren’t saving any money because it’s the TV adverts that tell us about the latest discounts! These TV adverts are usually skipped by many viewers on the various TV channels because they’ve already seen them but the new TV adverts are the ones we need to watch as we could save a lot of money.

If we get the chance to sign up for several Amazon UK accounts we get several email offers, too. This week, I got reminders about using a local pick-up store to collect an Amazon order. I knew about this so as there were no special offers I closed the emails. However, on Friday, the 7th of June 2024 I got a £3 discount for this local collection. I had to buy item over £10 ordered by and sent by Amazon. So I got a special deal on The Action Bible New Testament usually at £14 down to about £11.60. Then I applied the delivery to a store just around the corner needing no bus journey at all. So I applied that for free delivery and applied the £3 off and got a deal at about £8.60 instead. So it’s like saving £5 off in all. We don’t always get a minimum order of £10 so this was why I chose this Gospel book but I could have ordered something closer to £10 and got the discount down to about £7 instead.
I can’t register new accounts with Amazon without a mobile phone number so I stay using the accounts I’ve got already. During the order going through, we may see a way to upgrade to Prime Video but I don’t do that at about £9 a month extra. If I don’t get a 30-day free trial then I get the 99p a week subscription and cancel before that ends. I qualify for the Amazon grocery discount deals during that week but sometimes these apply to new customers instead.
The MSE MoneySavingExpert emails I get notified me of a few discount deals this week but they didn’t apply to me as an existing customer. Check your deals and promotional offers as soon as you sign in and see what’s what on the opening web page.

I decided to buy some Corduroy shirts today and my first multi-buy order was for 5 shirts so I got 20% off.
Later on, I got a different colour shirt option so I bought 4 and got the 20% again.
I saved £20 thanks to multi-buys and I got free postage, too.

This week I got voucher codes from the Morrisons website. The thing is that I ignore the £15 off a £100 order and wait for the follow-up email for £15 off a £70 order. So I visited the website and ordered just over £70 to save £17 that way plus another £15 off thus saving £32 in all.
When I compare the weight to the price ratios for similar items I can save so much money…

Some weekend discounts were on offer so I saved over £500 on the original prices.
The re-vived.com website offers a 24% discount for today, Sunday the 28th of July 2024. I ordered a few more favourite items while the stocks were available. I got loyalty points and saved extra that way.
thegoodbook.co.uk website offered a discount deal and then again for a purchase of 10 items so I saved about £40 that way.
The atlasformen.co.uk website had extra deals ending soon so I ordered several budget items as a brand new customer getting a 20% discount for subscribing to newsletters sent by email. So another £50 saved on realistic prices.
Probably a total saving of £600.

I looked at the re-vived.com website later last night and discovered that there were extra DVDs at the £2 price and then the 24% off. So I ordered the same ones and some extra DVDs. I followed through with loyalty points being used, so I saved about £50 more. Based on their original £10 price I saved over £800. So £600 and £800 make £1,400 saved. This shows that some audio-video media technology starts high. Soon after, prices can be reduced dramatically. The miracle is that these low prices get passed on to customers. The next miracle is that special events during the year will mean even more discount deals. The 24% website discount is the best I’ve found.

I found a few more re-vived DVDs I could buy so I saved even more this week.
I also managed to get 3 eBay items for 99p each and I reckon I saved about £30.
I got an Amazon £5 credit to rent or buy a video film so I activated that and ordered a film which I can watch on the ROKU box connected to my 4K Smart TV.
The atlasformen.co.uk items arrived and I saved over £10 on these, too.

In order to get the Amazon website and the RT Forums web pages to open, I had to close the AVG program’s web shield and later on I checked the AVG’s settings and enabled a few web browser programs to be added for Internet protection. After that, I switched off the HTTPS check option and got access to the RT forums again and was able to log in and post just now.

The recent eBay emails offered discount options by some of the sellers so I checked those items on the email links. There were other deals available on eBay’s home page, too. By saving a search phrase for an item we get new items for sale email updates so that helped me save money this week. I could also view the recently visited website items and then find similar items to compare prices and multi-buy deals.
I used the Make an Offer option again and saved £2 off the buy now price. It helps to check if others are watching the item and if anyone has made a bid then the Make an Offer option could get withdrawn. In my case, I saved money anyway.
The other 3 items were offering us a 99 p minimum bid so that’s how we could save money on the basis that nobody else makes a higher bid. In my case, the sabotage in getting web pages to load stopped me from making any late bids at all.
Sometimes we win in spite of website access failures happening at the end of HTTPS style auctions.

These are worth checking if not having a TV licence and even if you do. We have our legal rights regardless of being told otherwise and can inform the BBC of these when we send or email our complaints.

Amazon emails alert us to offers such as a free £5 credit to rent or buy a movie. So I watched Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom for just over 2 hours this afternoon. Maybe a few more Amazon accounts will get the £5 credit, too.

How technical problems can make us miss out on bargains and discounts…
Yesterday, the 5th of August 2024 was a really difficult day to get the Internet access on my 2 computers that I had to test. Different ways to access and so I had to test the Ethernet connection as well as the Wi-Fi connection. I learned that the Wi-Fi adaptor is the USB device and when I accessed that I could change the IP address and that helped to restore access. I use the POPPEEPER email service and that sometimes requires Authentication for Yahoo emails but I got that working again. Now I saw a refund on my 3 eBay orders so I didn’t save a penny on these after all. Nor did I get the items. Maybe these will be made available later, maybe not, but other sellers may have these so I get to try again.
I was able to get access to many websites but still get the won’t load or reload problems on some websites. Even here, I had that problem, but today I saw the ADVANCED link option that lets visitors into the websites regardless of any so-called security risks…
But today I saw the dreaded Legitimate Purposes and permissions display. That meant I could accept all companies tracking visitors or switch these and the vendors permissions off. So I had to switch off about 50 companies and may need to repeat this tedious delay again. This type of misery will affect RT Forum members and reduce interest in signing in beyond the Captcha delay selection image process that we may encounter as well.
The Internet is getting more complicated every single day so even if we update to the latest computers and web browsers we can still need YouTube video tutorials to change the Internet settings and options. That’s why I use the Wondows key then search for the program for Internet Options. It’s called inetcpl.cpl and I remember it as I use a net to catch a couple of fish and then I can type i n e t c p l dot c p l as above. Then I adjust the Security then Privacy settings and so on and try the websites again. The SSL errors may get fixed. However, I also had to switch off the AVG program and switch off its settings for HTTP/HTTPS scans. I was going from one checkup to another and still finding Internet access was going on and off now and then. The Wi-Fi adaptor change IP option led me to see the access restored with the signal display shown in 5 green bars and 5 white/yellow bars.

I saved £25 minus the £1.50 late-night delivery charge by ordering selected items and their £13 multi-buy discounts plus £12 off a £70 order by using the emailed VOUCHER code. Total saved is £23.50 so for 2 orders it would be £47 saved…
On this basis, it makes sense for families or couples to set up several separate Morrisons accounts so they can order with any discount codes they get sent. That way, they could save £12 for each of those accounts and thus order lots of items rather than just the £70 and more order alone.
The result of 2 orders could lead to orders of about £83 x2 then the discounts then the vouchers then the minimum delivery cost of £1.50. So that could lead to the £3 total for deliveries to pay yet saving £24 minus that £3 so £21 gets saved plus any other multi-buy deals. In my case, £13 saved x 2 for £26 and a total of £47 saved for these 2 orders.
I don’t like the vouchers for when I must order £100 at a time because £12 off £70 is better value.

What is happening to future Winter Fuel payments?
A means-tested approach means testing times ahead and this article mentions we must each pay £28 extra to settle a 3 billion pound debt to the nation’s energy suppliers. The average figures for energy usage have changed for me since I got a microwave oven but we must all pay the standing charges which the article mentions as 91p per day. Low energy users aren’t getting a fair deal and those poverty-stricken households are going to struggle when prices are set to increase… Some will get financial help, some won’t…

I signed in to several of my email accounts and got some £5 off a £15 order discount deals. At one checkout, I noticed a 7-day offer for Amazon Prime at 99p. I saved a total of 7x£6 off the orders plus £2 and that makes about £45 saved. The Amazon Prime subscription has been confirmed by email today. So I started watching on my 4K Smart TV Amazon Prime app. I also got a next-day delivery offer applied to that account’s delivery.

I did another check on British Gas as my 14m v1 fixed tariff ends in 12 months. The Switch Tariff display of other fixed tariffs meant I could get 14m v2 instead and extend my contract until October 2025 for just a little extra. Even so, the minimum Direct Debit payment was about £110 a month. The situation for me is I hardly use any gas oven units so the standing charge gets paid just to get this dual-fuel tariff. Current usage for July-August is over £90 a month so that’s about £1100 a year minimum and add about £300 extra for the Winter months for about £1400 to £1500 a year. Others will see their prices go up as well as down on their variable tariffs so they’ve no real idea how good or bad prices will be for both their electricity and gas. I got a microwave oven just in case that helps beyond the faster time to heat food items up.
For meter readings and account details and the Switch Tariff displays showing each tariff and day and night charges as well as standing charges and VAT included at 5%.
I’m gambling I’ll save money even if just for 2 extra months of Autumn Season usage next year.

AS I had hoped, I got another Morrisons discount email. It was sent using Amazon, so if I could get Amazon Prime on any of my Amazon email accounts then I would pay £0.99 for 1 week. To be cancelled before it ends next Saturday.
So I signed in to each account or used the Switch Account option. I found an account and checked if the Groceries from Morrisons had any previous orders or not. I found an account to get the Amazon Prime working, then accessed Morrisons and ordered just over £60. I added the coupon code SUMMERSHOP1 and got £15 off so I will pay £45 instead. If I ordered for a second time I would use SUMMERSHOP2 and for a third time SUMMERSHOP3. Normally, the codes would apply up to the end of the month, but I must take advantage before next Saturday. My order is to arrive today. This time I ordered 8 of the Vimto cordials 2 Litres bottles and 8 of the Fruit Squash 2 Litres bottles. So that means I can dilute the drinks rather than buying the fizzy ones or in cans. The Morrisons Fruit Berry drinks are similar to the taste of Vimto so I bought 2 of these for £1.50 earlier this month.
As a new customer for the COOP store I could get £10 off a £40+ order. Even so, that’s just a 25% saving like Morrisons with their £15 off a £60 order. Here again, we can compare prices to learn which deals are worth buying.

The second order on Amazon’s Morrisons Grocery section helped save me £15 off the £60 order plus about £7 off the multi-buy items. The checkout has a little box that says the promotion discount has been added already so that’s why the checkout led to a £44 order and I was able to stock up yet again. I delayed the order until Tuesday evening to get fresh food items at that time. As this is on Amazon’s website the prices don’t always match Morrisons website so that’s why I still shop around and make an order if the price is right. I switch from some fresh foods to the tinned goods to get the order just above £60. Any savings are based on yet another 99p a week subscription so it’s wise to open new Amazon accounts if you’ve got a mobile number to complete the registration process.

Today I got an email from an eBay seller after I’d left negative feedback. The request was to revise my feedback. So I was able to do that based on an accident happening prior to being posted to me. I had already got a refund so I mentioned that some items have a glass cover and damage can happen even before items get posted and delivered. Imagine holding a parcel and hearing the sound of broken glass. Return it or open it and try to salvage some of the contents? Even though I lost out on a bargain, I felt sympathy for those dealing with such items that can create accidents to people as well. So it’s a reminder to open parcels’ deliveries carefully after checking for the sound of broken glass!

I bought a secondhand DVD Recorder and it’s possible that it could be at least saving me £60 based on previous purchases. I’ve tried many DVD recorders over the years and so many were not worth the time or the money! So I tend to buy the same make and model number now. It’s less likely to need to return the eBay item later. The recorder includes the remote control and user manual. Some eBay items don’t so this was an unexpected bargain… so far…

My 50″ LG 4K SMART TV has a special offer over the next few weeks and freebies start off with APPLE TV + for a 3-month freebie. So I clicked that today, the 9th of September 2024. Next week and thereafter new offers apply.

I couldn’t find the Apple TV + service on the Netgem 4K Netbox so I switched back to view the LG TV apps and saw the apple TV app which continued where I left off with my login kept activated for me. I got an email to confirm the apple TV + subscription started today…
I switched the HDMI cable to the ROKU set-top box to access apple TV on that streaming device instead. My Wi-Fi signal works OK but I may test the Ethernet cable connection, too.

I recently switched from British Gas to a different fixed tariff based on the gamble that energy prices would increase and this week I learned of another British Gas Fixed Tariff. When I compared prices I realised that the new tariff increases prices dramatically already and I wouldn’t want to pay the extra costs for the day charge for electricity from about 24p to 29p per unit. I may not qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment as it is so there’s no incentive to switch anyway. However, those who didn’t switch earlier like I did may pay the extra costs of the new tariff thinking they’re doing well just because they get a new USWITCH email.

I noticed a freebie from Virgin Media. It was a 43″ LG TV. The deals apply for the more expensive services that include fast Broadband and TV subscriptions. I don’t want to pay more than double I’m paying now so I declined.
The really long contracts for 18 months allow for discount deals but Monopoly Money charges after a new Government has come to power may not be a wise idea.

The DVD Recorder I ordered recently didn’t work out as I hoped. Some startup fault meant I had to replace the 3-point plug in case that was the fault. It wasn’t. I replaced the hard drive and still no startups worked. I put the original hard drive back. A lot of time invested without any success at all. Pity. Even so, I started up a spare DVD Recorder which did work and just in case I’m clearing out the recordings on a different recorder to switch that one off completely.

The Disney Plus offer has been approved for 3 months at £1.99 a month so that saves another £3 a month for a total of £9.
The offer is on my LG TV yet I used the email to get access to the website and used a card payment to get access. I was able to change the password using the Manage Account option. All actions sent a code to the email account to verify the action. So I can now use a streaming device to access the service as a repeat subscriber.

I subscribed for 7 days of Prime Video using an Amazon account and ordered some hoodie jumpers yet at an amazing price and I wonder if these will arrive at such a low price as I paid this time.
On another Google search, I tracked down a reduced price lower than the £1.30 to £1.50 prices I found here in the UK. The website 10ofthose.com led to a bulk discount for orders of 25 or more. I checked Google search for discount codes and found TEA40 worked so I repeated with order 2 to order a total of 200 items for £170 instead of up to £300. While other websites had reduced prices with discounts and loyalty points, 10ofthose.com had loyalty points that stopped the TEA40 code so I switched off the log in and logged in again for the second order. I received an email offering £10 of a £40 order so I wondered if that would work later after the TEA40 code ended on the 9th of October 2024. If yes, create a new account, wait for the email offering that discount code WELCOME10 and try again. To think I will get 200 NIV New Testaments for 85p each is welcome indeed.

An email told me of a temporary free delivery offer for orders over £40. So I got 1 item for 50p off and ordered 50 of these. The rest were separate deals and offers to create a total order of £90. I remembered that MSE often offered a discount for poundland but I found a 10% discount on a different code website.

I wanted to stock up some energy-saving light bulbs and found these 10W bulbs and the 15% discount voucher, tooI bought 4 and got an extra bulb free saved about £10 on similar 10W bulbs that had no voucher or a freebie bulb.
If I needed 8 bulbs I could have got an extra 2 free bulbs…
So if trying to reduce electricity costs, these bulbs help as we can dim the light or increase the light and change the colour. I prefer the brilliant white colour for general use around the home. The smaller rooms can still use the remote control. We can place the remote control beside the bed and use that to switch the light on or off or reduce the light to have some light left on at night.
I have a long living room with 2 lights but don’t need both on at the same time. So the remote control keeps 1 light on and 1 light off until I choose to have both lights on temporarily.
The kitchen light switch is positioned on the other side so there’s no light on at all until I cross the dark room to switch that on. However, I positioned a remote control near the kitchen door to switch the light on with the remote control and off again when I leave the kitchen.

Here again the Amazon Prime 7-day 99p deal adds to my Morrisons discounts. I got an email from Amazon to provide discounts. 3 offers of £20 off the £70 orders and yet while I was online I saw a better offer of 3 deals of £20 off £60 orders and the first order used the code 20FORYOU01. So I stocked up for the £60+ order then got £20 off and the afternoon delivery will decide what happens. I changed each item to DO NOT SUBSTITUTE. If not delivered then the charge reduces and I still get the £20 off.

The Kindle advert wasn’t a part of my forum post at all. It was inserted outside of my control and maybe it was a sign of future adverts provided by the forum. So I wondered if it would get repeated if I tested with a follow-up forum post as well. It didn’t and the Kindle advert has gone now.
Many websites include adverts around a web page rather than within a forum post. I mentioned this new development as I didn’t recommend such a product placement that could give the impression that I am sharing details. Some adverts are using commission links and these help fund websites just like YouTube gurus promoting VPN services so they get an extra income.
My forum links don’t provide me with an income. I am just providing updated info. The Kindle advert preview doesn’t work and some may think it led to the energy-saving bulbs when it doesn’t. So I experimented to see if I could reposition the advert away from my text to avoid confusion.
In any case, a moderated forum doesn’t automatically add new forum posts or new topics so there are delays at times and featured content may not always be accepted…

As for my health, well, I delayed putting the heating on until the weekend temperature compelled me to use an electric blanket and the maximum heat setting for it. So I’m sitting on this blanket as it warms my back to a better heating situation than before. As for sleeping, that’s an hour or two then another wake-up then I decide if to go back to sleep or not. As the electricity tariff allows for cheaper night hours from 10 pm to 5 am I can save some money that way. It’s also useful to monitor incoming emails to get better bargain emails before the items get sold. We live in an Internet streaming 24-7 world so I may be able to watch late-night shows such as those on the Netgem Netbox which has over 100 extra Internet TV channels. I’ve recently connected to that using the long Ethernet cable and not just the wi-fi connection. I like the LG TV which also offers its TV extras and some Internet streaming service free trials, too. So why not use the late-night hours now and then?

Another search through Amazon Prime deals to get the 7 days offer for 99p. Then visit the Co-Op Groceries section and get an order for £40 with today’s free delivery. The order code COOP1040 was applied and the charge stated as £35 reduced to £25 instead. So I saved about £15 less £1 to make a £14 discount.

How about access to floppy disks a: drives nowadays?
Modern computers don’t always provide the A drive access but we can buy external USB Portable Diskette Drives and I checked YouTube for any drivers info. Instead, the video advice was to use the Windows key then to type a: to get the drive seen separately from the other drives such as C drive and external hard drives and USB flash drives such as Sandisk and Integral drives.

I checked a diskette over 20 years old and it still worked. It had about 60 files and 20 folders. It had the RTF files I usually view with C drive, Program Files, Windows NT, Accessories and wordpad.exe so I used that to associate it as the default program for RTF files.

The Windows key advice was also to try to type My Computer and then view the a: drive that way, too. When I got access, I selected the a: drive contents and used Ctrl A to copy and then pasted the lot into a C: drive folder so I could gain access that way, too. The Properties for the a: drive were set to read only so I switched that option off and exited the Properties setup.It’s true that some website links in different files won’t stay active after 20 years but it’s possible that the archive database could get ancient snapshots of websites or web pages:

For Smart 4K TVs, we may have been made aware of Freely, the new way to watch UK TV channels. The Hisense 2024 TVs have included the service but how can we consider Freely as free based on a brand new purchase at today’s prices? The Richer Sounds company offers a very long warranty coverage at about £80 above our eBay discounts of about 20% off. The really large TVs don’t seem that stable so having some accidental cover makes sense.
The latest high tech TVs may seem wonderful but we’re dealing with Monopoly money prices. So this could lead many customers to the purchase of medium size TVs below 50″ or to buying the lower budget TVs instead. I chose the LG and the Hisense TVs based on the maximum discounts I was offered. I don’t need to get the Hisense 2024 TV upgrade just for Freely.

The download was there at the checkout’s web page so I downloaded the ebook that way. Since I’ve got a few more accounts, I may be able to get some more ebooks, too.
Various book sellers have websites that offer some loyalty points as an incentive to buy more later. In some cases, immediately-placed follow-up orders may get delivered as a single consignment.

Every now and then the Amazon website sends emails to my accounts and offers a £5 off but they don’t all work for me as I hope. Some of these web pages don’t permit the action at all and show me a picture of an Amazon dog instead. Even if I try another web browser I still get no discount when these situations occur. Even so, there are a few discounts that get applied successfully and I get the £5 off and then set the free postage option. I check my favourite items and some have increased even if I but 4 items and get 5% off. So I search other items and then find some of these increased prices or got withdrawn. Finally, I get some item that works for me. So I saved 2 of the £5 to reduce costs by £10. Along the journey, I found another 99p for a 7 day Amazon Prime order. I’ve watched 2 films so far. I may make another groceries order before the 7 days end.
After I switch accounts and sign in, I visit the home page and see those £5 off promotions here or on http://www.amazon.co.uk/my-promotions but they don’t all work and prove to be time wasters instead. So I describe these as a journey or a Mystery Tour.

I recently saw a new article recommending the Opera web browser so I installed that over the weekend. It imported saved web pages of my other web browser. Opera has extra features such as a VPN service and a block ads service. So it could be worthwhile.

This is a clothing company sometimes seen on the Shopping Channels. The email I got was 25% off if ordering 2 items and free postage over a £15 order. The email discount code was applied on the website link I visited. I ordered jog pants and fleece tops and decided to buy 6 of the first and 5 of the second. The £70 order reduced to £52 instead. I registered with a brand-new email account and used a credit card to process my order. Basically, I’m paying for 11 items and the cost is less than £5 each. So about £10 for both and I can wear TWO sets of these items to keep warmer that way.

The recent 7-day subscription for Amazon Prime led to an automatic renewal and I wanted that cancelled so as soon as I was able I tried to stop the £8.99 payment. I went through the process up to the cancellation web page yet that only showed the cancellation at the end of the month’s payment.
I checked the cancellation options and found the PDF cancellation form with an online link right back to Customer Services which led me back to the same cancellation web page. However, I had tested that on the two web browsers and this time I was using the Chrome web browser which showed the CANCEL MEMBERSHIP NOW LINK! The other web browsers didn’t. It’s another example of why many install several web browsers just in case.
On another level, I received a few of Amazon’s emails and their £5 off deals so maybe some good is still on its way for me.

Money Saving Expert email mentions the v11 British Gas Tariff…
In this week’s MSE Tips, the latest British Gas Tariff v11 is offered to existing customers and it’s for 15 months.
My tariff is 14m v2 and I needed to get the new tariff details on the British Gas website before calculating the differences and the worth of switching or not.
The 14m V2 tariff is a day and night set of charges and November is a good average for the annual 5000 units used.
It’s about 300 for day usage and 115 for night usage and with 5% VAT the average works out at about £105 a month.
The new tariff works out for the only charge for day and night usage and with VAT goes to £110+ a month instead.
As it’s Winter with extras to pay, I increased the Direct Debit to £120 for the next few months.
My tariff ends in October 2025 so that means 11 months are left. So the increase of about £5 a month which includes the 4 extra months is still worthwhile based on the overall prices now and what they could be increased for any future tariffs offered to British Gas customers.
The understanding is that we switch and pay a lot more for our Winter months and these apply from here to the end of March or April depending on a mild or a cold Winter and early Spring.
As the new tariff uses a single charge for electricity this means customers don’t need to do the laundry overnight or stay up late at night using off-peak electricity as before.

I tried to cancel the Amazon Prime membership this morning (24/11/2024) and it had been renewed for £8.99. I visited the Account details and Manage Membership web page details but there was no option on different web browsers to CANCEL NOW. So I checked the Contact Customer Services option and requested a call and explained why I wanted to cancel and was promised a refund. I checked my account again and the membership was no longer listed so that problem has been resolved until I get a refund listed in the credit card statements on the Internet website for pending transactions.

It’s an unlimited service and doesn’t throttle speeds at peak time- even on multiple devices.

So they ain’t gonna cancel it, are they?
Some comment, well, that’s just an extra £5 a year. Some say differently, it’s even more bills to pay for years to come and for what? Millions rebel against the TV Licence Tax and the harassment and the £1,000 fine. I get benefits and these include the TV Licence as a part of the cost of living payments which may seem quite nice at first. However, there are millions who miss out on benefits or legitimate claims based on the National Insurance payments they paid and their employers paid, too. I realise that if the TV Licence Tax was abolished that the Government could take that £3 a week away from benefits and merely delay future benefit increases accordingly. Even so, think of the reduced misery of not being harassed into paying something that needn’t have been charged for in the first place!
What many forget about is that the TV adverts on hundreds of other TV channels announce thousands of discount deals every single year and could easily pay for a TV Licence many times over. Look at this forum discussion for the ways I’ve saved thousands of pounds on the Internet less a few hundred pounds for the Broadband and phone line rental charges. Mind you, millions don’t have a computer at all. But a 4K Smart TV offers us some Internet web browser access that could prove useful as well as some apps on various devices as the Amazon Fire Stick or Android set-top boxes.
Some 4K Smart TVs have their own TV channels as extras such as the LG TVs do. Then again, the Netgem Netbox 4K set-top box has over a hundred of its own extra TV channels we access when we retune channels. So while I oppose the TV Licence Tax I still pay it through my bank or by a credit card if the bank payment fails. I learned recently that some payments don’t go through for some licence payers and they are regarded as criminals. The BBC and certain banks have a lot to answer for. So do the Governments for permitting the BBC fiascos to happen and to continue.
Still, I’m not paying my TV Licence as the Government benefits I get do that for me.
Fav shows such as Doctor Who and Superman and Lois are basically all I really watch as live TV shows.

So once my order went through I would save £178 this time with about 530 loyalty points worth £50 when redeemed after the December Sale. The January Sales could be useful if getting a 5-year or a 6-year warranty coverage but be aware that most expensive TVs are fitted with tiny leg supports and I had to secure 2 of my large TVs to the supporting table or furniture by using rolls of wide brown sellotape used for packaging eBay items and so on.
Check 4K Smart TVs for the S2 connector as that little circle gets access to a Sky dish satellite cable. ONE cable allows access but not enough for recordings as that goes from the Sky dish to the Sky+ HD rear panel satellite circle inputs for 1 and 2. That way allowing for 2 recordings at the same time. Recordings to the Sky+ inner drive Sky Planner setup. TVs only provide 1 satellite S2 input.
Recordings of Freeview can be made using the TV’s rear panel USB drive connector for th USB drive, sometimes recommended for 32GB flash drives such as Sandisk.

As I’m still an Amazon Prime customer, I can get another £10 off the second Co-Op order over £40.
Part of this order was the extra £5 discount if I add an extra credit card. This appeared even before I got to the checkout as well as after the Co-Op order was accepted. So I saved £5 on my next Amazon website order and that was what showed in the Checkout display as the £5 discount was automatically included there. This applied to an item under £15 so it worked out well.
Total saved £10 plus £5 to save £15 yet with a free delivery on both orders.

There are times when a British Gas website sign in doesn’t work for me. I choose the forget password route and then update the electric and gas usage. The cold temperatures increased my monthly usage and the VAT and I’m going to pay about £140 instead.

Saint Valentines Deals and Lent for Easter deals are out there just weeks after Christmas and the New Year discount deals. There was a recent all-month-January discount deal as well. As I explained even this morning, we need to get discounts to offset the increased utility heating bills. My Amcor dehumidifier provides heat as well as reducing water condensation that started in January/February. Mould and condensation must be eliminated and the cold air will increase these in any room and even upstairs in areas where there are large or small windows. Whatever curtains or blinds we may have, whether thermal or not, these block our view so we need to carry out checks now and then. YouTube showed me video tutorials about using various cleaning products such as bleach for mould on walls. Different cloths can also penetrate deeply to remove microscopic threats, too. Many Old Age Pensioners need to open doors to help to ventilate the air in the rooms as that reduces problems, too.

I got a £15 off code for an order of £70. Above this was an extra £49 based on reduced prices and I saved over £60 this week.
Some were because I registered for the MORE CARD and got a digital web page for that card number and saved it as a png image for reference.
The MORE link was there when I signed in but the MORE registration had to include a special character such as the at sign @ so I got back to the Morrisons website and changed that password to make sure it worked for the MORE card as well.
More Card prices are identified for each item but most of my order was for prices that were already reduced. Things such as 10 for £4 or 2 for £2.50 and so on.

I’ve ordered a CD-ROM drive 7-in-1 item to view or burn data and it also connects to an external 2TB hard drive I’ve got so I can transfer PC data and get more storage space that way.The USB cable is the standard size yet with a second cable for the smaller USB connector used for laptops. It has the SD card and the large adapter connections for the micro card inputs, too. This plug-n-play model type has a large light bar on the top and costs about £18.
It was a fast delivery so that helped as well.

Pensioners and disabled people are getting so-called increases in April 2025 but when we consider the utility bills getting increased by about 6% to 7% the sums just keep up with these bills alone and the Government is still charging 5% VAT and not allowing some claimants the Winter Fuel Allowance at all. So it’s no wonder that we face the Winter of discontent, so to speak.
I hardly use any gas cooking or heating at all yet I’m still being compelled to pay for the daily standing charge which is about £9 a month. Maybe standing charges will be abolished in the rest of this decade, maybe not.
On another topic, the reports tell us about the mould-infested homes here in the UK. My Amcor heater/dehumidifier helps to reduce this problem which gets worse in January and February when the freezing temperatures increase water condensation on the windows and walls.
Many people are thankful they can save on some household bills yet won’t spend about £150 to £250 for dehumidifiers. So it helps to adjust our thinking to the prevention of diseases for the young and the old each Winter.
When we get discount deals, these are useless if we don’t get extended warranty coverage, too. So check these as they may appear as extra orders when we reach the checkout stages.

February/March 2025 updates
The Morrisons reduced shopping prices saved me from spending £60 extra and I spent that saved money getting a Funai HD-2785 250GB DVD Recorder. I deleted the existing content and started to record to the hard drive and the DVD-R discs.
As for Atlasformen, I signed up with a new email account and got 8 items from the Clearance email info and discount code. This time, I saved £10 off beyond the Clearance sale items. The basic estimate was £5 per item and about £5 postage but the real deal was over £45 so I got free postage, too.
For large orders we get free postage plus the discount for reduced prices or a freebie gift such as a man’s watch. So that’s why I register and subscribe to emails and get the latest catalogue with its own discount code to use when I can. There are womens items, too.

I got another USWITCH energy update leading to the latest energy tariff deals, but these merely tell us how sickening it gets when new tariffs can add over £100 to £200 extra than the earlier tariffs. The April increase has led to the utility companies increasing their costs for the next year or longer yet switching the deals around and then using average charges to makes us think we’re gaining. We’re not gaining. The calculator proves that if we bother to verify and compare with previous tariffs. The worst scene scenario I saw in the future tariffs was that prices will stay and increase until the end of the decade. So we must keep checking and looking at previous monthly statements. They confirm the usage with the previous year so we can see how the extra heating has increased the earlier months by about 50% extra for some of us. While at the same time the UK Government has withdrawn previous benefits for millions of homes. The extra costs now fall upon us until benefits increase in April 2025 and every penny gets wiped out by increased usage and increase tariff prices.

This article explains the TV Licence increases in April 2025 by an extra £5.
The rules get shown for those near or above retirement age as well as options for those on Pension Credit or low income. So some qualify for certain rules and others don’t.
My point of view differs from the updates because those who receive any benefits receive the minimum according to the law and I contacted the DWP about the TV Licence and learnt it is already included in each benefit.
The DWP is therefore paying it to each person anyway. So there’s no reason to cancel the TV Licence payment for those getting payments already.
The confusion applies to each person getting benefits yet then getting payments reduced to £0.00 before the 74-75 age. They are expected to pay the TV Licence because it’s already in the Cost of Living payment. They are legally bound to pay the payment until the 74-75 age. After that, what happens? Guess what? They still get paid the same payment and keep it without paying the TV Licence. Can that actually make sense? So millions of pensioners get the payment and keep it? Does that add up or not?
If the TV Licence isn’t allowed for then millions of pound are getting overpaid? That that mean over-payments must be paid back to the DWP or not? Or the DWP must lower the payments when the TV Licence doesn’t get paid? In other words, another setup depending on age? Even so, the zero payment setup has been going on for years! If excused from paying back the previous over-payments then that has to be done on an individual or a national basis.
I don’t get it… but if I get that extra payment on living to the zero payment age then I still don’t know if I must pay it back in the future or not… or get lower payments instead…
As usual, things just don’t add up.

TV LICENCE INFO continued…
If the unemployed get about 50% of what pensioners get then they need every penny to survive anyway, so as long as the TV Licence is included in the payments they are duty bound to pay it, too. Who among the unemployed actually sets aside about £14 a month to pay the TV Licence before paying it quarterly or annually? Compelled by law to pay it or face a fine if they don’t? Will they risk that fine and not pay a penny?
What if 2 or more are unemployed in the same house? That’s like 2 or more TV Licence payments, right? Does that add up? I still don’t get that.
Those who live alone must pay it all or all of the fine?
Erm… what happens if 2 or more don’t pay it all as a group? Is that colluding to break the law, so to speak? A deliberate collective action of fraud or forgetfulness? Are the parents or guardians forced to pay with or without the unemployed’s contribution or contributions?
If rent does get paid then does that include paying towards the TV Licence, too? Is that in a written contract or not?

I learned about the new BG tariffs and chose the V51 tariff for the next 16 months for just a little extra than I pay now. I used the website to check the charges, including the 5% VAT. All I’m doing is extending my existing tariff by 2 months so it ends in August 2026.
The latest guess is prices will go down slightly this Summer but will increase in the Winter. I decided to keep my monthly bill set to £140 and will get the statements to confirm my lower usage in March 2025 until about October/November 2025.

This weekend, I got this email discount. I bought 3 Clearance items (Atlas For Men) multipacks. Thankfully, I paid for 2. As the original price was over £45, I got free delivery. So I will get 6 items for the cost of about £32.50.

The 9th of April 2025 update:
I viewed a YouTube video tutorial about free delivery for Amazon website orders, even below the £35 minimum.
The video showed a remote control being ordered for about £9, then going to the checkout and selecting the free delivery option for a local store or a locker. A delayed delivery gets the free option. It’s sooner if sent to an Amazon locker location.
If sold and delivered by Amazon, many orders can get free delivery. My nearest pickup store isn’t that far away, but it would take me about 30 minutes to walk there and back. Others may require a bus journey, which undermines the way to save money unless it’s already a necessary shopping journey.
The video could also show an Amazon Prime free trial, or a reduced cost for a week, or a month. That makes more sense, but the video tutorial wanted free delivery and nothing else. That’s a bit daft, as delivery to my home makes it more convenient if I’m already here.
It’s also daft if we can get Amazon Prime discounts on the Morrisons and Co-Op grocery orders… especially if we’re new customers.

9th April 2025 British Gas update.
I got an email requesting the meter readings, so I got the day and night electric readings and the gas reading. Usage 250 for the day hours, 100 for the night hours. NB: zero gas usage this month. I switched to tariff V51 at the start of April.

The article explains the necessity to update. This maintains correct meter readings. This allows for day and night readings. This helps us to choose more energy tariffs that offer the cheaper night rate energy tariff charges.
It could be time to switch before the switch-off begins, but that doesn’t mean to get a smart meter installed. My meter is over 20 years old, and I didn’t need a smart meter, so I told my energy supplier that my answer was no.

The latest update for eBay caused some setbacks for sales recently.
The Make An Offer option didn’t work well, so I couldn’t get what I wanted each time I tried. It’s still hit and miss.
One item I did get fell apart as soon as I lifted it.
One item was a pack of recording DVDS, but I was sent the DVD+R format instead of the DVD-R format I needed for the DVD Recorder.
I spent a few hours taking photos to prove what had happened and telling the sellers by getting them onto an Internet set-top box, then a flash drive, and then onto the computer to send the messages using eBay.

I forwarded the domain to my web page on the poemhunter website, so as long as that’s active, the link goes there.
I was using the ROKU set-top box this morning, and that was how I saw an app called Google Search. It had several film details, and in the Top Box Office for the US, the Gospel film had an impressive cartoon-style trailer. That made me wonder if any useful domain names were available. The ionos website is often shown in our UK TV adverts, and its website searches for the available domains. That’s how I could register the domain so quickly today.
VAT is included in domain name orders, but the first year is reduced anyway.

I have about 15 months remaining on the V51 tariff, and I switched from this to THE LONGER FIX V30 tariff for 24 months starting tomorrow, 23/4/2025. The tariff increase is about £35 a year for my account, or 10 pence extra a day. I ordered the 99p a week Amazon Prime and saved £15 on a Morrisons/Amazon £70 order for later in the evening.

I noticed a discount on the http://www.amazon.co.uk website. The price was about £11.25, with a 5% discount if I bought 4. I checked my other sellers’ deals and got a better one. I tried various promotional discount deals for their codes. When I registered as a new customer, I got an extra discount using a welcome code. So I saved over £90 just by shopping around and applying the savings to a large order.
So the Amazon website isn’t the best every time.

The http://www.atlasformen.co.uk website deal was 3 for the price of 2, even on Clearance items sold and delivered by Atlas For Men. So I ordered 18 sets of jackets and paid for 12 instead. Instead of £144, I only had to pay about £90 and saved about £50 last week. That’s why I ignored various deals in their emails until this deal came along. This time, I bought items in different colours.

When I got Amazon Prime for 99p for 7 days, I only used it a few times, so I cancelled it a day before it got renewed. I will get a 99p refund soon.
As a side issue, I got a £5 Prime Video offer and I used that up. I couldn’t record the film using the HDMI to SCART adapter, so I tested elsewhere to find a free version available on the Internet. So I accessed that and downloaded it using downloading and conversion software.
I will use the http://www.morrisons.com website for more card offers rather than the Morrisons Groceries store and its offers sent to my email account.

The MSE, MoneySavingExpert email stated there was another British Gas tariff deal. This means I could switch from V30 to V31 starting tomorrow. All it means is paying a few pounds extra a year due to the calculations for my estimated usage per month and year. This 2-year, 24-month deal is easy to switch to, even if it costs a bit more. My tariff would remain at 23 months left, so I updated it based on the calculations.
I will start on tariff V31 to pay £120 a month, even if this decreases in the Spring, Summer and early Autumn months, until later this year, when the temperatures drop and I must pay anything up to £200 a month!

The 4th of May update is that I saved about £40 because there were fewer bids on the 6 eBay items I won. I paid £36 for these brand-new and unsealed picture prints.
I remember these being sold on the UK Shopping channels about 15 years ago for about £20 and an extra £8 postage each. Inflation since then has increased dramatically, so it’s even more amazing to think I’ve saved £130 than at that time, and even more so today, as if it’s more like £250. The eBay prices vary so much, even for the basic pictures. This purchase is extraordinary.

Using the British Gas email statement update, I checked the current balance. The PDF statement file showed me I was in debt. So, I checked if the free number 0800 072 8625 would accept payments using my account number and payment card details. The payment was successful and has been confirmed in the email I received.

Over the weekend, I got another set of discount savings. The Morrisons website saved me about £20 on an order of £60.
The Amazon website helped yet again. The different registered accounts helped me save £5. Several accounts enabled me to sign in and visit the home page to find the £5 discounts. I saved £25 because each order was over £15, sold and delivered by Amazon, and there was no extra postage for these items. The checkout has that extra free delivery option, otherwise, I would have paid extra.
I updated my existing credit card, but that didn’t qualify me for the extra £5 discount for adding a different card. So it pays to check the card details listed at the checkout to see if you could add a different card to qualify.

I decided to test some 15W low energy bulbs that cost £13 for 2 bulbs. The brightness improved over the 10W bulbs I use in small rooms. So I regard this as worth the money based on the estimated 30,000 hours of use. In any case, I kept the packaging and marked these little box items for the day installed, the 10th of May 2025. I’ve bought £26 worth in all so I’ve got enough for my needs. Even so, some Amazon customers sign in, visit the Home Page and qualify for £5 off a £15 order. So it pays to see if sold and shipped by Amazon before ordering any new item. If necessary, top up an order to above £15 to get the free delivery orders thus getting down to just over £10 instead…

When we order some item or items the Amazon website adds a Prime Video offer and sometimes there’s a 7-day subscription for 99p, so look for this extra opportunity because it could lead to getting Groceries shopping discounts for Morrisons or Co-Op orders such as 3 offers even before the 7-day ends. Cancel the day before the subscription ends and maybe get a 99p refund.
I got the 99p option on Thursday, the 15th of May 2025 so I should cancel on the Wednesday next week.
The Prime Video link or links on Amazon may provide special deals but rarely for 30-days as a free home trial and some TVs show that but they don’t get accepted by the Amazon website when we try these out.

My LG TV showed me HUNDREDS of Prime films and TV shows as a way to study the details better than we see on a computer monitor.
By the way, my LG TV showed me info about the LG Streaming week that starts on the 19th and will offer a few deals, so update or add the LG TV channels app to get some idea of these subscription deals.

I phoned Virgin Media about my router 3.0 device after reading about Wi-Fi 6 being required for the fast Broadband speeds and how that could affect which router gets installed for a long 2-year contract.
My router is 3.0 and can deal with 200 Mb speeds anyway. So it didn’t seem to have any problems with the 125 Mb speed I get. In any case, I pay £32 for it and the landline rental. I was offered a speed of 250 Mb if I agreed to pay £35 instead. So I agreed to that as it would load websites faster for me. It also helps when upgrading software for different devices if using the Internet rather than over the air uploading the data.
I will get an email and a new 2-year contract. In accepting this deal I am about to pay £5 instead of a previous quote of £37 a month. So I’m saving £2 times 24 months and that’s nearly £50.
An extra technical issue applies for Smart TVS as they have a default speed access of 100 Mb. If we use an Internet adapter fitting to connect Ethernet to it then to the TV then the speed increases as shown in YouTube videos.

I switched from a 99p for 7 days Amazon offer to another account today after cancelling the first one. I was able to get another £10 discount on a £40 order. So I stocked up on some biscuit deals based on the weight values per price.

Virgin Media Broadband Updates.
I checked some speed test websites and couldn’t see any improved speed evidence. I checked the TV adapter for the Ethernet speed and that hadn’t improved. The Virgin Media website sign-in led to the package details stating I had the M125 speed, and it seems I wasn’t upgraded, so I hope that gets sorted this week for my future tests. I received emails to confirm a new contract yet the upgrade will get tested again…
The Google website search for Broadband speed tests include Samknows and Fast and USWITCH and Which website results yet these changed within seconds of testing several times. I did the on/off router sequence and still got no improvements. It seems that we either use website chats or 150 phone calls because emails and website complaint forms are hard to sort out for any quick results.

The LG 4K TVs are useful; some are 20% off in the Sale.
I checked the Hisense 55″, which costs £599. It’s got the modern tech Freely service, but is it worth £600 nowadays?
Was there any incentive to buy? It has a 6-year warranty coverage. That’s like paying about £80 above similar TVs on eBay.
My TV cost £420 a few years ago, yet it didn’t have Freely, and the minimum wage was nowhere near what it is now!

I found some surprises in my searches on the Amazon website. A deal with a third off led to a few orders that saved me over £10. Another 2 deals saved me a few more pounds. So I saved about £15 on my orders today.
Sometimes, without an Amazon Prime subscription, we must order over £35 for free delivery to save an extra £5.

At the end of the month, I rechecked the Amazon website after cancelling the 7-day offer for 99p. I signed in to several accounts before I signed up for another 99p deal. After this, I checked the Morrisons and Co-op Grocery discounts, then I chose the Co-op voucher code for £10 off a £40 order using the code NEWCOOP40.
NOW the tricky part. Using the Search Departments list, I switched between Morrisons’ prices and Co-op prices. There’s a good reason to do that, as some items are discounted and are cheaper in different stores. I picked the cheap deals and soon I saved about £9 that way. The order increased to over £40, so I paid just over £30 for this afternoon’s delivery.
During the checkout stages, use the option Don’t Accept Substitutes for non-essential items, as this could save you a bit extra if fewer or none are delivered.
So I saved £19 less £1 for Amazon Prime and got a free delivery on the groceries.

Comments for consideration…
The savings made each month offset the Broadband and line rental, not just the TV Licence costs. Consider the bills £35 plus £14.50 every month, or £50 a month, or £600 a year. Some may believe that all these costs get included in a person’s benefits or pensions, whether they use these services or not, and that a computer and a 4K Smart TV are also included. Even if true, can we believe these apply to just one person or a married couple and their children? Single people living alone may be compelled to pay every bill, so it pays to haggle and check for discounts offered by Government Departments and websites. Guess how many hours are spent doing these searches and checking YouTube and news websites. Then there are thousands of emails and Spam emails to check. So if you’ve ever wondered why crime rates increase or decrease, then consider the effects of the so-called RIP-OFF Britain we live in.
