Claimed Power: Mind Reading

____________________________________________________________

Claim: I can guess what question you are thinking of if you tell me a random
page number and line number of a novel, and give me 3 options to choose from.

____________________________________________________________

Example of Test Protocol

I write 22 questions on 22 cards.

You select any card you want and don't let me see the question side of the card,
you tell me any made up page number and line number, I look up my novel and tell
you the quote at that line, that's the answer to the question and completes the channel.

Then you shuffle the deck and take the top 2 cards, add them to your selected card and
then shuffle those 3 cards and hand them to me. I then show you the card you selected.

2nd trial, we remove the selected card from the deck and do it again with 21 cards.
For the final 20th trial there will be 3 cards left, one is your selection and the other 2 are
the options to guess from.

Basic Zenner card test without the meaningless symbols, and a lookup quote to trigger
the mind read & channeled answer.

____________________________________________________________

Pass Mark: 10/20 questions guessed = 10:1 odds broken (expected = 33% right).
3 Passes Running = 1000:1 odds broken (preliminary test)

Fail Mark: Any of the 3 tests of 20 questions I score below 10/20.
Unless I break 1000:1 odds before a 2nd or 3rd test is needed.

___________________________________________________________

Alternate Protocol: Instead of using cards, email or post the questions on sci.skeptic.

A 'guess' (& hoping for a statistical anomaly by limiting sample size
iow a lucky streak) is not a power. Take it back to the drawing board.

Well, there is the sudden flash of holding up a random card and someone
actually naming it. (one out of 52)
I do not think that is very replicable.

Ceteris Paribus is impossible if it is the first time naming.

You cannot step into the same river twice has connotations with
beginners luck.

Keep a civil tongue in yer head there laddie, my benevolence is not
infinite.

Got any proof that 3 sets of 20 = 60 are a valid sample size?

You have to drop your objection to questions need answers, a question is just a type of idea.

http://stattrek.com/Tables/Binomial.aspx

Probability of success on a single trial = 0.333333333
Number of Trials = 20
Number of Successes (x) = 10
Click [Calculate]
Cumulative Probability P(x>=10) = 0.0919

Just over 10:1 odds to guess correctly 10 questions from 3 options with 20 trials.

3 Passes running = 10^3 : 1 odds = 1000:1 (JREF Preliminary odds to beat)
